Sankranthi is a three days festival celebrated by all the Indian peoples. In every year This is the first festival. So this festival is also called a New year Family festival. In the first day, we celebrated boogie and next day Lohri and finally day Sankranti. Pongal has many regional names. The most popular variations are:

• Makar Sankranti
• Lohri
• Bihu
• Hadaga
• Poki

AP School Pongal/Sankranthi Holidays 2023:

All the government schools in Andhra Pradesh will be closed from 11th Jan 2023 to 16th January 2023 in the view of Sankranti. The attention of all the Regional Joint Directors of School Education and the District Educational Officers in the State is invited to the reference read wherein the Pongal Holidays have been declared from 11th Jan 2023 to 16th January 2023 to 17-01-2023 and the schools should reopen on 17-01-2023

The requests have been examined. It is decided to reiterate the schedule as notified in the School Academic Calendar 2022-2023. However, keeping in view the various programs, it is instructed that all the Regional Joint Directors of School Education and the District Educational Officers should ensure that the teachers attend the various declared programme, wherever the Programme is held, and the children shall continue to have Pongal Holidays as scheduled i.e.,

• Holidays from:11th Jan 2023 to 16th January 2023
• The schools shall reopen on 17-01-2023
