JNTU-Hyderabad ( JNTUH ) In the Proceeding (1) read above, the University has approved adding grace marks of 0.15% of total marks which will be added up to maximum two theory subjects as given below:

Degree Total of maximum marks in all eight semesters Grace marks to be added (0.15% of maximum marks) Rounded marks
B.Tech (R18) Regular admitted (For the A.Y 2021-22 outgoing students only) 5900 14.75 15
B.Tech (R18) Lateral entry admitted (For the A.Y 2021-22 outgoing students only) 4600 11.5 12

There are several representations received from the B.Tech R18 Regular, 2019 Lateral Entry students and their parents for subject exemption and enhancement of grace marks to be added in view of disturbance in regular class work (offline mode) for two years due to COVID pandemic and students have been mandated for attending online class. It was observed that few students who stays in villages could not attended all the classes due to internet and other technical issues. Because of this students could not have performed well in the examinations. In the present B.Tech R18 regulations there is no chance for subject exemption as it was available to B.Tech R15 and R16 Regulations

In view of the above, it is proposed to enhance the percentage of grace marks to be added from 0.15% to 0.25% of total marks as mentioned below, further applying these enhanced grace marks upto three theory subjects instead of two theory subjects

Degree Total of maximum marks in all eight semesters Grace marks to be added (0.15% of maximum marks) Rounded marks
B.Tech (R18) Regular admitted 5900 8.85 9
B.Tech (R18) Lateral entry admitted 4600 6.9 7

This enhancement of grace marks shall be applicable to only for B.Tech. (R18 Regulations) 2018 regular, 2019 lateral entry admitted batch students and for the students admitted in previous regulations and completed fourth year in R18 regulations, without subject exemption, who are eligible to get degree in the academic year 2021-22 only. For all other batch students as well as other regulation students, the above enhancement of percentage grace marks will not be applicable and they have to satisfy their applicable rules and norms as per their academic regulations for getting the degree.

The above matter was placed in the Executive Council Meeting under item No.2.03 and the Executive Council has approved the same.

In view of the above circumstances and based on the recommendations of the Executive Council, the Vice-Chancellor is pleased to accord permission to the Director of Evaluation for enhancing the grace marks from 0.15% to 0.25% and applying grace marks upto 3 (three) theory subjects (i.e maximum of 15 grace marks for regular and 12 grace marks for lateral entry students) for R18 B.Tech 2018 regular, 2019 lateral entry admitted batch students, and those who were admitted in previous regulations and completed final year in R18 regulations without subject exemption, who are eligible to get degree in the academic year 2021-22 only.

These orders shall come into force with immediate effect for the students of JNTUH University Colleges, JNTUH Affiliated and Affiliated Autonomous Colleges.
